July 15, 2010:

Thursday July 15 is a quiet day on our racing front. However there are a few angles that we are looking at and perhaps place a small wager.

Calder Race Course, Races 6 & 7

Bisnath Parboo, a trainer at Calder has a small stable that quietly is winning at a 42% clip. 5 out of 12 starters have won and at reasonable mutuel prices.

He has 2 entered on Thurs: Race 6, Lady Lak, a 2 year old filly, making her 2nd start is worth a look. However, she has drawn the #14 post and probably will SCRATCH..

Race 7..King Ghidorah, the 4 year old gelding is coming off a win at 3-1..He is entered in a very competitive 6 horse field. We are making a small wager.

One problem is that we are not sure of the weather conditions at Calder as of this writing. If it rains and the track becomes sloppy it enhances his chances.

This problem that we mentioned above is a hazard for any handicapper who offers Selections a day before the race. It could rain and a race carded for the Turf is run on the main track, certain speed horses are scratched close to Post-time, any numbers of factors that could effect the running of a race and a Selection.

One of the reasons that we started SELECTIVE HANDICAPPING was to choose certain horses who fit our conditions and make the information available on the day of the race.

One final note, we are following two apprentice jockeys that might have a bright future.
Alex Gonzalez and Jesus Velasquez are capable young riders. Look for them at Hollywood Park and the upcoming Delmar meet.
